Language & Literature

We analysed picture prompts and wrote diary entries and internal monologues based on them. We also learned how to connect these with the global context and its strands. We explored travelogues and learned how to write travelogues for ourself and for others.

Language Acquisition


In the past two weeks, we learnt vocabulary and expressions for the current unit ‘Travel & Vacations’. We framed sentences to incorporate the vocabulary for means of transport using the preposition “en”. To fortify our learning, we watched videos, used interactive worksheets from famous French blogs, and participated in French quizzes. Lastly, we have prepared our itineraries to present our favourite holiday destinations. We appeared for our formative assessment on criterion B for this unit.  


We learned the format of a diary entry and post card. We implemented our learning by writing post cards to our friends in class. We also described our last vacation in Spanish.

Hindi (Phase 1 & 2)

In our unit, ‘Leisure activities and hobbies’, we discussed the importance of our free time and how it is utilized. Along with story writing, we also discussed descriptive writing in order to make our story more attractive to the readers. Finally, students learnt the art of ‘bimb’ and how to apply ‘five senses’ in writing to make the story more focussed.   

Individuals & Societies

We selected one of the human rights , researched on its various aspects and case studies on UNHRC.  We did a pair-share presentation in which we analysed the problems and listed various rights that are violated. While doing this we also had to find an evidence of violation of human rights. By the end of the lesson we had to propose changes that need to be made at grass root level in order to stop the violation of human rights.


We continued our unit ‘Ratios and rate of change’ in which we learnt the concept of direct and inverse variation and tried a few real life application problems. Then, we learnt to draw the graphs for these concepts and how to calculate the slope (rise over run) from the graph. We appeared for a formative assessment for this unit.



We started a new unit ‘Waves’ by doing an activity named ‘talk to the picture’ where we had to look at the picture and write what we understood about waves through the same. We also did think pair share activity to discuss the two very different types of waves – Longitudinal and Transverse. We learnt about the EM waves and the EM spectrum. We appeared for our 1st FA which was a group task on EM waves and its application.


We learnt the skill of writing chemical names and chemical formulas for chemical compounds and practised many of them to test our understanding. We also discussed balancing the chemical equations. We also had our formative assessment on writing chemical names and formula for different chemical compounds.

We learned about DNA and its functions, comparison of DNA and DNA, evolution and Darwin’s theory of natural selection with reference to specific examples. We also watched a video on the same. We learnt how he discovered his theory and what the different stages of natural selection are.

Design & Technology

This week we discussed the importance of annotation and how it is done in a fashion sketch.  Most of us have added detailed comments to our product sketches, which would help the viewers understand the design details. We also learnt some new terms associated with style features like necklines, sleeve styles, collars, surface ornamentation etc.

This week working on criterion C, we created Gantt charts to plan our progress for the final digital poster. We also watched a few videos as resources to build better digital posters in Photoshop. We  created the layouts of the posters using the pen tool, text tool and few tricks that we learnt during the process. We took feedback from our peers to check the quality of the posters.

We prepared and presented our own African compositions that we created in groups using different instruments, including the ones that were made by us. We used  many African techniques like call and response, ostinato, poly-rhythm and improvisation to make the compositions more interesting. We answered a questionnaire based on Criteria A to show our knowledge and understanding of African music and the importance of drumming in the African culture.

Physical & Health Education (PHE)

We started our new unit of Volleyball under Net Games. We researched about the dimensions of the Volleyball court and basic rules of the game. We were briefed about the fundamental skills in Volleyball like service, receive, set and attack. We practiced receiving the ball and underhand service during the lesson.

Visual Art

We started a new unit – clay modelling relief sculptures in which we  learned about high, low and 3D relief sculptures through different demonstrations and practical work. After learning  three types of relief sculptures and different types of perspectives, we made a layout for our final art work. We also made different objects in clay to understand about different dimensions of relief sculptures.
